Nine-and-a-half decades of live performances: Mukhtar Auezov Drama Theatre marks its anniversary
The Mukhtar Auezov Drama Theater, a cultural institution that has been a beacon of artistic excellence for 95 years, was recently awarded national status in a grand event held in its honour. The event was reported by Almaty.tv.
Minister of Culture and Sports Aktobe Raimkulova, who was present at the occasion, stated that the granting of 'national' status is always a grand affair on stage. The person who honoured the Mukhtar Auezov Dramatic Theater on this occasion was Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The grand event coincided with the theatre's 95th anniversary, making it a doubly significant occasion. Following the awards ceremony, a concert titled "95 Years of the National Theater" took place, and the drama "The Mystery of Abai" premiered.
Erkin Zhusbek, the director of the Kazakh National Drama Theater named after M. Auezov, expressed feelings of both pride and concern. He noted that organizing such events today requires a special approach and additional support. He also expressed his concern about organizing creative events on stage.
The premiere of "The Mystery of Abai" and the celebration of the Mukhtar Auezov Drama Theater's 95th anniversary were indeed momentous occasions. However, they also highlighted the challenges that lie ahead in maintaining and nurturing the theatre's rich legacy. The Mukhtar Auezov Drama Theater, as a national theater, will undoubtedly continue to play a crucial role in Kazakhstan's cultural landscape.
