Nissan's electrified performance variant, the Nissan Ariya NISMO, is set to make its way to the United Kingdom, adding a dash of sportiness to the Ariya lineup.
Nissan has announced that its electric performance SUV, the Ariya Nismo, will be available in the UK starting from January 2025. The automaker made the confirmation in July, following the reveal of the Ariya Nismo at the start of the year.
The 'B9' model of the Ariya Nismo, if available, will boast a 91kWh battery and 429bhp, promising a swift acceleration from 0 to 62mph in under 5.0 seconds. Nissan is being coy about the NISMO's powertrain, but it is expected to have powertrain offerings similar to the Ariya e-Force.
The Ariya Nismo is a performance take on Nissan's Ariya, with more power and a new look compared to the regular model. It features visual modifications such as a front splitter, vortex generators, side skirts, new bumpers, and a ducktail spoiler. Inside, the Ariya NISMO offers sport seats, red highlights, and suede upholstery for a sporty feel.
Nissan's decision to bring the Ariya Nismo to the UK was confirmed by the company's spokesperson, Mayra GonzaΜlez, who stated that the Ariya NISMO offers a balance between the immediate response and acceleration of an electric car and the mechanical fine-tuning of a sports car.
Pre-orders for the Nissan Ariya Nismo in the UK will open on 17 October. It is expected that only the more powerful version of the Ariya NISMO will be available in the UK. The 'B6' model, with a 66kWh battery and 362bhp, may not be available.
The Nissan Ariya Nismo marks Nissan's first electric Nismo offering. The Nismo brand, known for its high-performance vehicles, has been absent from the UK market for some time. Nissan's return to the UK with the Ariya Nismo is a significant move for the automaker and a promising development for electric vehicle enthusiasts in the UK.
