Nollywood Industry: Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (AGN) forms committee focused on asset recovery

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken significant strides towards regaining its lost assets and ensuring the welfare of its members. In a recent meeting with the AGN's Board of Trustees (BOT), the current National President, Dr Emeka Rollas, presented the newly established AGN Asset Recovery Panel and announced the introduction of a retail health management plan.

Dr Rollas expressed his gratitude to the BOT for their support and understanding, which he said provided a conducive environment for him and his leadership team to deliver effectively on their mandate. In his remark, Sonny McDon, the BOT Secretary, expressed pride in the AGN administration under Dr Rollas.

The AGN Asset Recovery Panel, comprising Onwurah Ifeanyi (Chairman), Garba Muazu (Secretary), and Sydney Diala (member), has been tasked with the recovery and safeguarding of the guild's assets that have been mismanaged or wrongfully appropriated by past leaders over the past two decades. The panel is empowered to trace, identify, and recover these assets, working with allied government agencies like the Police, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

In a bid to ensure the health and well-being of its members, the AGN has also introduced a retail health management plan. This initiative aims to provide AGN members with access to affordable healthcare services.

Under Dr Rollas' leadership, the AGN has also launched the AGN Super App, offering members rewards, opportunities, and access to vital information at their fingertips. The app is expected to streamline communication and service delivery within the guild.

In accordance with the guild's constitution, a National Electoral Committee (AGNEC) has been inaugurated to conduct the next national election. The AGN helmsman stated that this step is in line with the guild's commitment to democratic governance.

Dr Rollas and his team have been acknowledged for their efforts and achievements so far by the BOT. The BOT Secretary, Sonny McDon, commended Dr Rollas for his passionate commitment to the betterment of the AGN.

It's worth noting that Nigerian artists have reportedly generated N11b revenue from Spotify in 2022, but this fact is not directly related to the AGN.

As the AGN presents its new national secretariat to the BOT, the AGN Asset Recovery Panel is set to begin its work towards recovering the guild's assets and ensuring a brighter future for the AGN and its members.
