NTT DATA designates Jafar Kuruniyan as the newly appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for their regions in the Middle East and Africa.

Jafar Kuruniyan, a seasoned finance professional based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for NTT DATA's Middle East and Africa (MEA) operations.

Kuruniyan's journey with NTT DATA began in 2009, and he has steadily advanced through the organisation, serving as Vice President of Finance for the Middle East for five years. During this tenure, he developed deep expertise across finance functions, strategic insight, and enhanced financial performance and operational efficiency.

Barry Curtin, who is stepping down after 16 years of service with NTT DATA, has expressed his excitement for the future of the company in the MEA region. Curtin, who has served as CFO in the Middle East for 12 years, has built a capable and experienced finance function at NTT DATA, ensuring strong succession planning and talent development.

Curtin's contributions to NTT DATA's financial strategy and operations over a 12-year tenure as CFO have been significant. He has served on the majority of NTT DATA's main boards as an executive director, chairman, and non-executive director. Moreover, he has played a vital role as chairman and trustee of the current Employee Empowerment Trust.

Alan Turnley-Jones, CEO of NTT DATA, Middle East and Africa, has expressed confidence in Kuruniyan's ability to build on Curtin's legacy. Turnley-Jones praised Curtin's exceptional leadership, strategic leadership, financial acumen, and unwavering commitment. He also acknowledged Curtin's role in building a strong and capable finance function at NTT DATA.

Kuruniyan, who is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a Master of Business Administration from Mahatma Gandhi University, will be based in Dubai to support and oversee MEA operations. He joins the diverse MEA Executive Leadership Team of NTT DATA, headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Barry Curtin will remain with NTT DATA for a transitional period to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. He expressed pride in what NTT DATA has achieved together and remains invested in the company's continued success. He also looks forward to beginning a new chapter while staying connected with NTT DATA and watching the business continue to thrive.

Curtin's departure comes as he steps down after supporting four successive CEOs during his tenure at NTT DATA. Alan Turnley-Jones has praised Curtin's exceptional leadership and expressed his gratitude for his service to the company.
