Nursery receives a new addition: a farmhouse arrives
In the heart of Garbsen, a unique educational project is currently underway, providing children with practical learning experiences and teaching them about responsible animal care. This innovative initiative, realised in cooperation with Leihhuhn.de, a German company known for renting out mobile chicken coops, has been making waves in the community.
Each kindergarten participating in the project receives five tame dwarf silk chickens, along with a chicken coop, fence, feed, and other accessories. The chickens, with their vibrant colours and friendly demeanour, have become a source of joy and fascination for the children, who are learning first-hand where eggs come from.
One of the key aspects of the project is the hands-on approach it offers. Picking up freshly laid eggs from the nest in the morning is a great experience for the children, providing them with a tangible connection to the farming process. This direct contact with the chickens is not only educational but also fun, helping to create a lasting impression.
The duration of the visit varies, lasting two or three weeks depending on preference. This week-long stay has seen Mayor Claudio Provenzano visit the Murmelstein Family Center, where a mobile chicken coop is currently located. Environmental Officer Randi Diestel expressed her delight at the success of the animal visit at the Murmelstein Family Center, stating that it is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about animal care and the environment in a fun and interactive way.
This year, the chicken mobile is visiting ten Garbsen kindergartens, bringing its unique blend of education and entertainment to a wide audience. The project, with its focus on practical learning and responsible animal care, is a shining example of how innovative initiatives can make a significant impact on the lives of children, fostering a love for learning and a respect for nature.
