Reduced Prices on Nvidia's RTX 50-Series in Europe: The RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 have seen a nearly 10% price drop, probably in response to a weakened U.S. dollar.

Nvidia decreased the prices of RTX 50-series graphics cards in Europe, notably the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070, by nearly 10%, a move likely spurred by the decline in the value of the U.S. dollar.

In a move that could signal a shift in the GPU market, Nvidia has announced a price reduction for some of its RTX 50-series graphics cards in Europe. The decision to drop the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of Nvidia's Founders Edition GPUs comes amidst the ongoing impact of U.S. tariffs and semiconductor price hikes.

The reduction in prices, which is almost 10% for some GPUs, is visible on Nvidia Germany's marketplace and other European sites like France, Belgium, and Spain. However, it's important to note that this price drop is not due to increased production, but rather economic realities like tariffs and inflationary pressure increasing the value of the dollar.

The RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 now have new MSRPs of 2,099 EUR, 1,059 EUR, and 589 EUR respectively. Interestingly, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti have no price change, while the RTX 5060 and RTX 5050 have a decrease of 6.69% and 9.24% respectively.

The tariffs, a result of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Section 232 investigation, have been a threat to the price stability of the GPU market. The U.S. President, Donald Trump, announced a 100% semiconductor tariff in early August, and there are concerns that he might be considering increasing this further to 300%.

The potential increase in tariffs from 100% to 300% is a significant concern for the GPU market. If implemented, these tariffs could potentially lead to increased prices for GPUs in the near future. Some manufacturers might be forced to seek alternative production methods or locations to avoid the increased costs.

It's worth noting that currently, there is no public information indicating that any European companies are producing and assembling Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics chips outside the USA to reduce the impact of US tariffs on prices. Nvidia's production for these GPUs remains primarily based in the USA and Asia.

Nvidia might be able to completely assemble the RTX 50-series graphics cards within the United States without relying on any kind of import. However, the weakening dollar, making the import of American goods into Europe relatively cheaper, could potentially mitigate the impact of these tariffs on consumers in Europe.

Despite the price drop, it has not been confirmed that other manufacturers have reduced their prices as well. The tariffs could potentially force manufacturers to adjust their pricing strategies to maintain profitability.

As the situation evolves, it will be interesting to see how the GPU market adapts to these tariff changes. For now, consumers in Europe can take advantage of the lower prices on Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs.
