Observed smoke cloud suspected as a potential fire by Fire Watch surveillance system
Voluntary Fire Department Hünxe Responds to Potential Forest Fire Alert, Finds No Evidence of Fire
On July 10, 2025, at around 10:50 AM, the Voluntary Fire Department Hünxe received a call with the incident call sign "Suspicious Smoke" for a potential forest fire alert at Lipperhofweg in the district of Gartrop-Bühl.
The smoke development was unclear and was discovered by the forest fire monitoring center "Fire Watch". It is presumed that the cameras for the early detection of forest fires detected a dust cloud, which was initially thought to be a sign of a forest fire. However, upon further investigation, it was determined that the smoke was likely caused by agricultural activities and not a forest fire.
The Voluntary Fire Department Hünxe responded promptly to the alert and began an exploration of the area. The operation was completed after approximately 30 minutes, during which no evidence of a fire was found. The exploration of the area did not reveal any damage either.
After the incident, the Voluntary Fire Department Hünxe issued a statement confirming that there was no forest fire and that the smoke was likely caused by agricultural activities.
