Artist Tadeusz's Work Returns to Düsseldorf After a 28-Year Hiatus

Hans-Peter Feldmann, an artist whose work is being exhibited at the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf from September 29, is Tadeusz. This marks the first museum exhibition of Tadeusz's work in Düsseldorf after a 28-year hiatus.

Tadeusz' paintings are known for their striking depictions of bodies and spaces on canvas, often portrayed from unusual angles in large-scale, often monumental works. His figures, characterised by a detached form language, can be irritating or disturbing, yet they have lost none of their impact, according to Felix Kraemer, General Director of the Kunstpalast.

The themes in Tadeusz's paintings include Violence, death, and eros. Depictions of animal carcasses are also a common theme in his work. His focus often centred around the theme of woman, and his female nudes, known for their extreme poses, are considered radical image findings in Western painting in the second half of the 20th century.

The oversized water lily paintings are also part of the exhibition. Tadeusz's work is a unique blend of influences, with sources of inspiration ranging from the late Renaissance masters of Venice and the color field painting of Ellsworth Kelly, to nature observation and dialogue with other artists.

Kay Heymer, Head of Modern Art at the Kunstpalast and curator of the exhibition, states that Tadeusz dealt with contemporary formal questions in his figurative painting while being influenced by archaic ideas. Felix Kraemer emphasized that with this presentation, they are bringing one of the most important figurative painters of his generation back to the public's attention.

Tadeusz passed away in 2011, but his work continues to provoke and inspire. Don't miss this opportunity to witness the raw power and emotional depth of Tadeusz's paintings at the Kunstpalast from September 29.
