Officers harmed in mishap in Schwaikheim: accident befalls law enforcement personnel
In a surprising turn of events, a police patrol car was involved in an accident during a routine operation in Schwaikheim, Rems-Murr district, on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 5 am on the B14 towards Stuttgart, at the Schwaikheim exit.
The patrol car was en route to join the B14, having its lights and sirens on as it attempted to stop a driver who was reportedly driving erratically. However, the driver of the patrol car lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road to the left and collide with a guardrail.
As a result, the patrol car ended up on its side, sustaining extensive damage. Two police officers were lightly injured in the accident. The name of the policewoman injured in the accident was not disclosed in the available reports.
The patrol car was completely destroyed in the accident. Another police unit took over after the accident, and the Schwaikheim exit was temporarily closed due to the accident scene.
Contrary to initial speculation, the driver who was being pursued was not found to be drunk. The accident remains under investigation.
