Officially Verified Comeback: Mercedes G-Class Cabriolet

The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Mercedes-Benz announces the comeback of the G-Class Cabriolet, set to make its grand return in early September 2025. This new model is a continuation of the iconic Geländewagen line, developed by none other than the luxury automaker itself.

While the Mercedes G 580 EQ (2024) may share the same name and general category as the new G-Class Cabrio, it appears to be a distinct model. The G 580 EQ, an SUV cabriolet, has already been tested and showcased in a video, but information about its technology and market launch remains scarce.

In contrast, the new G-Class Cabriolet, based on the standard wheelbase and featuring four doors, seems to be a departure from its predecessor that was available from 1979 to 2013. The previous G-Class cabrios were always based on the short-wheelbase, two-door model, which has since been discontinued.

The new G-Class Cabrio is designed with a steeply dropping rear to accommodate its folding roof. Unlike the G 580 EQ, no custom conversions have been mentioned for this model yet. However, for those seeking unique G-Class experiences, custom conversions such as the G 63 by Refined Marques, G 63 Art Piece by Mansory, and the Maybach G 650 Landaulet are still available.

A teaser image of the new G-Class Cabrio has been released, offering a glimpse into its sleek and modern design. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that this new model is not based on the short-wheelbase, two-door model, ensuring a fresh and innovative take on the classic G-Class Cabriolet.

As we eagerly await the official launch of the new G-Class Cabriolet, one thing is certain: Mercedes-Benz continues to push the boundaries of automotive design and innovation, keeping its iconic Geländewagen line at the forefront of the industry.
