Walko Foods Expands Ice Cream Production with New Nashik Plant

Walko Foods, the company behind the popular NIC ice cream brand, has made a significant stride in its growth journey. The Indian food company recently commissioned a new state-of-the-art plant in Nashik, Maharashtra, in collaboration with Hindustan Foods.

The Nashik plant, operational since May 2025, boasts a production capacity of over 200,000 litres per day. This expansion marks a significant leap from the small batch freezers that previously handled Walko Foods' ice cream production. The new facility features Tetra Pak machines, ensuring high-quality and efficient production.

Jeetendra Bhandari, the Founder & Director of Walko Foods, has led the company's growth. In 2023, Walko Foods raised $24 million from Singapore-based Jungle Ventures, a testament to the investors' confidence in the company's potential.

Walko Foods' growth is expected to be driven by its mass-market label, MIMO. Launched to cater to the mass-market segment of cups, cones, cassatas, and cakes, MIMO has already reached 10,000-15,000 outlets within a year. This segment forms 60% of the market, making it a significant growth area for Walko Foods.

Despite the rapid growth of digital sales, Walko Foods expects offline sales to surpass online within five years. Currently, offline sales contribute 18% to Walko Foods' revenue, while digital channels once contributed over 90%. By FY26-27, offline sales are expected to contribute 55% to Walko Foods' revenue, with digital sales at around 45%.

Walko Foods posted revenue of ₹288 crore (net of discounts, GST, and margins) for FY24 and aims to become profitable in the subsequent years. The growth is expected to be led by the successful MIMO label.
