On Monday, a new 'nationality tracking system' will commence operations in Lisbon
The Institute of Records and Notaries (IRN) is opening a new "nationality desk" on September 1, 2020, at Parque das Nações in Lisbon. This desk, located at Alameda dos Oceanos, No. 67-L, will be the central hub for all in-person services previously provided at the Central Records Conservatory and the Expo Records Space in Lisbon.
This new desk is mandatory for lawyers and solicitors registered in Portugal who represent foreign citizens in nationality applications. They can now only use the online service at justica.gov.pt for these purposes. The online channel is also available for citizens to submit nationality applications and documents.
Citizens can still send their nationality application and respective documents via postal mail to a nationality desk. However, for those preferring in-person appointments, the new desk will be open from 09:00 to 16:00 for both scheduled and walk-in appointments. The IRN will have the capacity to handle in-person appointments (both spontaneous and scheduled) at the new desk.
Citizens with appointments already scheduled at the previous locations are being contacted by the IRN to confirm the date and inform them of the new address. The new desk will also be open until 19:00 for scheduled appointments only.
Secretary of State for Justice, Ana Luísa Machado, will visit the new nationality desk on Monday at 14:30. It's worth noting that the search results do not provide information about the name of the person who visited the opening of the new "Stelle der Nationalität" in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, on Monday, September 1.
The new nationality desk will concentrate all in-person service previously provided at the Central Records Conservatory and the Expo Records Space in Lisbon, making it a one-stop-shop for all nationality-related services in the capital.
