Ongoing law enforcement operations
In the afternoon of August 26th, a serious road accident occurred in Cologne-Eil, a residential area located near the city centre. The incident took place on Bensberger Straße, a busy street leading towards the highway.
According to reports, a young motorcyclist was traveling on Bensberger Straße towards Grengeler Mauspfad when he was hit by a VW driven by a 35-year-old individual. The driver, who was heading towards the highway, turned left from Heumarer Mauspfad onto Bensberger Straße at the time of the collision.
The impact of the accident resulted in the young man sustaining severe head injuries. He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. The 35-year-old driver also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the same hospital.
The accident investigation led to the temporary rerouting of traffic around the scene to allow emergency services to attend to the victims and clear the road. The location where the accident occurred is different from where the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital.
The identity of the 35-year-old driver has not been publicly disclosed, although it is known that he was the one behind the wheel of the VW that hit the motorcyclist. The exact circumstances leading up to the accident are still under investigation.
