Ongoing Surveillance in City Center: Over Two Hundred Individuals Subjected to Checks
In a series of operations over the past week, the Dortmund Police have been actively enforcing laws and maintaining public safety.
On Wednesday, 21st May, four men were arrested in Lünen for dealing in significant amounts of amphetamine. The investigations regarding this incident are ongoing, and the names of the individuals involved have not been disclosed.
Prior to this, on 16th May, the Dortmund Police conducted a presence concept focus in the city center, northern city center, and specific areas such as Bruckestraße, Rewe-Basecamp, Gerichtsplatz, and the surroundings of Dortmund harbor. This operation was primarily focused on these areas due to current complaints and tip-offs.
During this operation, a person carrying a one-handed knife was detected at the Helmholtz Gymnasium, leading to a procedure for checking a knife-carrying ban. Corresponding criminal charges were initiated for this individual.
On the same day, a group of people were found at the Helmholtz Gymnasium dealing with intoxicants. Intoxicants and a low three-digit cash amount were secured from the group. No specific details about any other violations or findings from the operation on 19th May were provided.
On Tuesday, 20th May, a similar incident occurred at the Helmholtz Gymnasium. A group of people were found dealing with intoxicants.
In addition, on 19th May, a violation of a spatial restriction was detected during a coordinated large-scale control in the area of the northern exit of Dortmund Central Station. Corresponding criminal charges were initiated for the individual involved.
Between 16th May and 21st May, the PK Focus checked a total of 205 people and 63 vehicles. In fifteen cases, criminal charges were filed during these checks.
On 19th May, several personal checks were carried out in the area of Nordmarkt. No violations of the knife-carrying ban were detected during the operation on 16th May.
During a traffic control on 19th May, a person without a valid driver's license was detected. Corresponding criminal proceedings were initiated against this individual on the same day.
The Dortmund Police had been present in the deployment forces in recent days prior to 16th May. The regular checks by the PK Focus continue.
A search warrant was obtained from the Dortmund District Court for an apartment in Lünen based on a witness tip-off about drug dealing. Cash and intoxicants were secured during the search of this apartment.
