Ongoing Verifications in City Center: Over 200 Individuals screened

On Wednesday, four men were arrested in Lünen for dealing in significant amounts of amphetamine, following a witness tip-off about drug dealing from an apartment. The arrests were supported by forces of the PK Focus.

The crackdown in Dortmund began on Friday, 16th May, with the Dortmund Police focusing on the areas around Brückstraße/"Rewe-Basecamp", Gerichtsplatz, and the surroundings of the Dortmund harbor. During a control of a juvenile repeat offender, an unlicensed amount of cannabis was found and secured by the Dortmund Police. No violations of the knife-carrying ban were detected during this control.

The regular controls continued over the weekend. On Friday, a group of people dealing with intoxicants was found at Helmholtz Gymnasium in Dortmund. Intoxicants and a low three-digit cash amount were secured from the group.

The Focus Presence Concept, implemented by the Dortmund Police, led to numerous controls in the city and northern city centers. During these controls between 16th and 21st May, a total of 205 persons and 63 vehicles were controlled. In fifteen cases, criminal charges were filed. Corresponding criminal proceedings were initiated against a person detected without a valid driver's license on Monday.

On Monday, a violation of a spatial restriction was detected by the Dortmund Police during a coordinated large-scale control near the north exit of Dortmund Central Station. Several person controls were carried out in the area of Nordmarkt on Monday.

The search results do not provide information about the ringleader or mastermind behind the arrested group from Lünen involved in amphetamine sales. Cash and intoxicants were secured during the search of the apartment. Corresponding criminal charges and a procedure for checking a knife-carrying ban were initiated.

The arrests and controls continue as the Dortmund Police strive to maintain a safe and drug-free environment in the city. The regular controls will continue under the Focus Presence Concept.
