The Youth Ring is hosting a history festival, offering a diverse programme for young minds. The festival, running from today until the end of March, boasts an impressive 70 program points, including readings, panel discussions, and exhibitions.

One of the key exhibitions, titled "Resistance", is currently on display at Kulturhaus Süd. This exhibition, created by a group of passionate students, aims to draw attention to the acts of resistance during the Nazi rule in Düsseldorf, particularly in the districts of Garath and Hellerhof.

Notable figures honoured in the exhibition include Wilhelm Böing, Olga Schubert, and Josef Laux, who played significant roles in the resistance movement. The exhibition serves as a poignant reminder of their courage and sacrifices, marking the 80th anniversary of liberation from Nazi rule in Düsseldorf.

Another notable exhibition, "Düsseldorf 1945: Surviving in the City", will be presented by the Memorial and Remembrance Site from April 8th. This exhibition offers a deep dive into the struggles and resilience of the city's residents during the final months of the war.

Both exhibitions are free and accessible to all, with barrier-free access ensuring everyone can participate. No registration is required to visit these thought-provoking displays.

The exhibitions are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking to learn more about Düsseldorf's past, these exhibitions offer a unique opportunity to explore the city's historical streets and uncover its hidden stories.

The festivities are supported by Kulturhaus Süd, the District Council 10, and the District Administration Office 10, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving and sharing Düsseldorf's rich history.

The program brochure for the festival includes a historical introduction describing the period between autumn 1944 and summer 1945, providing valuable context for the exhibitions and other events. So, whether you're a history buff or a curious mind, there's something for everyone at this year's history festival.
