In a significant stride towards digital transformation and inclusivity, the Government of Kazakhstan has initiated a nationwide project to conduct remote medical-social examinations for the determination of disability groups. This project, which began in 2025, is being spearheaded by Galymjan Koishybayev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection.

The initiative, aimed at eliminating the need for people with disabilities to physically visit offices and handle paperwork, and minimizing direct contact between service providers and recipients, is being implemented across all 20 regions of Kazakhstan. Since its inception, over 51,8 thousand applications from all parts of the country have been reviewed within this project.

The pilot project for this remote format was first introduced in 2025, with the Head of State providing instructions at the VI meeting of the National Council of Public Trust to create favourable conditions for people with special needs. These remote examinations are now being carried out for 30 nosological forms.

Previously, over 96.9 thousand applications were reviewed in a remote format, accounting for 37.4% of the total number of people with disabilities who underwent examination. However, precise data regarding the total number of people with disabilities in Kazakhstan or the completion status of the project is not currently available.

The project is being jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, along with the Ministries of Health, Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry. This collaboration underscores the government's commitment to ensuring seamless and efficient services for its citizens, particularly those with special needs.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to fulfil the Head of State's instructions, marking a significant step towards a more accessible and digital Kazakhstan. The goal is to make public services more accessible and convenient for all, particularly for those who may face challenges in accessing traditional services.
