Pakistan tour schedule announced by PCB for all cricket formats in South Africa
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an exciting all-format tour of South Africa, set to begin on October 12, 2023. This tour will mark a significant milestone as it will mark the start of Pakistan's new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 and will also see the return of One-Day International (ODI) cricket to Faisalabad after a gap of 17 years.
Syed Sumair Ahmed, the PCB COO, expressed his excitement about hosting the series, particularly the return of ODIs to Faisalabad. He stated that starting the new cycle against the current Test champions will provide quality cricket for players and fans.
The tour will consist of a two-match Test series. The first Test match will be played at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium from October 12 to 16. The second Test will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24. This will be South Africa's first Test series in Pakistan since January 2021.
Following the red-ball matches, both teams will compete in three T20 Internationals (T20Is), scheduled from October 28 to November 1. The first T20I will be held in Rawalpindi, while the second and third T20Is will be played at Gaddafi Stadium.
The ODI series will be the highlight of the tour, with the first three matches to be played at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. This will be the first time international cricket returns to Faisalabad since April 11, 2008. The ODI series against South Africa will be played from November 4 to 8.
The series against South Africa will not only mark the start of Pakistan's new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 but will also see the return of ODI cricket to Faisalabad. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of international cricket to the city, and the PCB is confident that the series will provide an unforgettable experience for both players and spectators.
