Pakistan's Twenty20 International team is gradually coming together, hinting at an improving structure

In the realm of T20 International cricket, Pakistan has been making strides, showcasing a revitalised approach and the emergence of new talent. The team's win/loss ratio has seen an improvement in 2025, surpassing the ratios of both 2023 and 2024.

Two key batters, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, have been instrumental since the start of 2024. They are the only Pakistan batters with more than 500 runs and a strike rate above 140. Agha and Ayub, with their part-time off-spin, provide valuable options against left-handers.

The team's batting template has shifted towards greater freedom, with younger players playing without fear. Sahibzada Farhan's strike rate of 149.13 stands out among the batters, while Khushdil Shah adds another left-arm angle and power-hitting in the lower order.

The openers have scored at a higher strike rate since the New Zealand tour, and the emergence of all-rounders has been crucial. Six players have scored at least 80 runs and taken a wicket this year. Faheem at No.8 adds depth with the bat and can reliably bowl four overs of seam.

Hasan Nawaz's strike rate of 174.13 is the best any Pakistan batter with more than 100 T20I runs has managed, ever. Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Muqeem bring variety and control as spinners, and Hasan Ali has rediscovered form.

Pakistan's bowling remains their strongest suit, with the pace attack of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf remaining formidable. Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jr., Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Afridi, and Sufyan Moqim are the players representing the Pakistan T20 team in recent series without Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

The team has crossed the 180 run mark seven times in 16 innings in the past year, compared to nine times in 38 T20Is from January 2023 to December 2024. Pakistan's strike rate in the middle overs and at the death has increased in 2025 compared to 2023 and 2024, indicating a more aggressive approach.

Notably, the duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not close to making the final 15 for the T20 World Cup in India. The team's success in recent series suggests that Pakistan's T20 cricket is in good hands, with a focus on youth, all-round abilities, and aggressive play.
