Monique's childhood home was a constant battleground, a place of tension and harm where tranquility was a foreign concept. Her mother's demands for immediate compliance were outrageous, and she often accused Monique of lying, cheating, or sleeping around to get good grades.

The abuse Monique faced was not limited to physical violence. Her mother showed no empathy for her physical wounds, verbal assaults, or emotional torment. In fact, it seemed that her mother derived pleasure from her violent rages, a trait associated with Anti-Social Personality Disorder, characterised by a craving for cruelty and the infliction of pain on others for pleasure.

Monique's mother locked her in a closet and refused meals, used her rages to inspire fear and intimidation, and called her every harsh name in the book. She beat Monique with various objects, restrained her, took her things, abandoned her on the side of the road, isolated her from family, threatened more harm if she told anyone, and ignored her presence for months at a time.

Monique's mother even went as far as to physically beat her in front of others to assert her dominance and control. She prevented Monique from attending social functions or being with her friends, and interrogated her, shouting false accusations and staring or glaring to intimidate or threaten additional harm.

Despite Monique's accomplishments as a good student, athlete, and hardworking employee who worked after school to stay away from home, her mother never apologised for any abuse and showed no remorse. In fact, despite Monique's achievements, her mother still considers her a piece of shit.

Monique's extended family tried to help, but her mother cut them off and refused any contact. Monique's mother even went as far as to punish her for friends calling the house.

In one particularly disturbing incident, Monique's mother forced her to lie to child services, threatening to do more harm to her younger sister if she told the truth.

Monique endured months of the silent treatment after episodes of abuse, a tactic used by her mother to further isolate and control her. Despite all the suffering, Monique's resilience shines through, and she continues to fight for justice and healing.
