La Presse Announces Exciting New Initiatives
Montreal-based news outlet, La Presse, is set to launch a series of new initiatives designed to engage and inform its readers in a more immersive way.
Starting from September 18, La Presse will introduce a new cultural appointment called Sortir. The intention behind Sortir is to encourage people to go out, even though the task may be more difficult due to the pandemic. This new section will be published every Thursday in La Presse, on the web, and on mobile devices. It will focus on themes such as theater, music, dance, humor, and visual arts, encouraging readers to go out and enjoy cultural events.
To guide evenings and weekends in these areas, Sortir will gather critics, suggestions, and favorite picks. Alain Rayes, former mayor of Victoriaville and Conservative MP, and journalist Sophie Thibault will be contributing to this section, offering their unique perspectives on society.
In addition to Sortir, La Presse is expanding its presence on TikTok and YouTube, with exclusive reports and special investigations led by new journalists Milik Bélanger-Sévigny and Julien Bouthillier. The outlet invites readers to visit its TikTok account and YouTube page for exclusive content.
La Presse is also launching a new newsletter by François Cardinal, offering readers an opportunity to learn about the editorial choices, reflections, and challenges at La Presse. This newsletter will serve as a platform for François to answer reader questions, share reflections and readings, and comment on the world of media. Subscribers can expect to find sources of inspiration, understand a disrupted world, and find solid bearings with this new newsletter.
The new column is not the only addition to La Presse's website and mobile devices. Many new columns will be added, including "The mistake that made me better" in the Business section, "Cardinal points" to locate major international issues, "The two sides of the coin" to broaden reflection and present arguments on both sides, "How it works" to explain complex or obscure notions of current events, and "They did it" to present inspiring stories in the environment about solutions implemented by citizens.
In the Sports section, "Listen List" will guide choices of podcasts, documentaries, and readings related to sports activities. The popular sports column "The Club" will have a video component called "The Club Video," allowing journalists to answer reader questions in voice and image.
La Presse continues to engage in dialogue with its readers, encouraging questions and discussions about its editorial choices and the newsroom's backstage. The outlet will also lend its microphone to less-heard voices and open the section's dialogue tribunes to a diversity of opinions.
Lastly, La Presse is adding a new section called "Mailbox," where journalist Alain McKenna will answer reader questions and guide them through the digital universe. With these new initiatives, La Presse is committed to providing its readers with a richer, more engaging, and informative experience.
