Pedal-assisted electric vehicle drivers sustain minor injuries in accident
In two separate traffic accidents that occurred on September 3 and 9:45 AM respectively, charges have been filed by the Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters.
The first incident took place in Troisdorf-Spich, where a 51-year-old cyclist was lightly injured. The cyclist was riding his Pedelec on the wrong side of the bike lane, and the car driver, from Troisdorf, was attempting to turn left onto Dauner Straße. Both parties were taken to a hospital by an ambulance.
The charges in this accident were related to the car driver's negligence, suspected to have caused the incident. The charges are classified as negligent bodily harm in a traffic accident.
In a separate accident in Sankt Augustin-Mülldorf, a 35-year-old cyclist was also lightly injured. The charges in this accident were related to the cyclist riding his Pedelec on the wrong side of the bike lane.
The accidents occurred at around 7:40 AM on Friedrichstraße in Sankt Augustin and at around 9:45 AM on a road parallel to local Bonner Straße in Troisdorf.
The total damage was estimated at a mid-four-digit figure in Troisdorf, and the Hennef resident is expected to receive a fine for his actions. Damage to the vehicles in Sankt Augustin was minor, with the total cost estimated at a low four-digit figure.
The charges in both accidents are part of the ongoing investigations, and the name of the police officer leading the investigations is not currently available.
