Philadelphia football team, the Eagles, obtain offensive tackle, Fred Johnson, from the Jaguars, as per a source.

In a series of moves aimed at bolstering their roster, the Philadelphia Eagles have made two trades on Sunday. The transactions, which were reported by ESPN, involved offensive tackle Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Sam Howell from the Minnesota Vikings.

Laura Fay, the digital content producer at News Philadelphia, confirmed the trades. Fay, who has a rich background in journalism, previously worked as a reporter, editor, and audience director at The 74, a nonprofit news organization covering education.

The Eagles are trading a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-rounder for Sam Howell. Howell, who did not play for the Philadelphia Eagles before this trade, joins an already crowded quarterback room that includes Jalen Hurts, Gardner Minshew, and Nick Mullens. The acquisition of Howell adds another quarterback to the Philadelphia Eagles roster.

In a separate transaction, the Eagles traded offensive tackle Darian Kinnard to the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles received a sixth-round pick in 2027 in exchange for Kinnard.

The Eagles offense is currently dealing with injuries to left tackle Jordan Mailata (concussion) and left guard Landon Dickerson (knee). The team hopes that the addition of Fred Johnson can provide much-needed depth to the offense. Johnson, who started six games for the Eagles last season, is expected to step into this role.

The Philadelphia Eagles head coach who conducted the transfers of Fred Johnson and Sam Howell is Nick Sirianni. The Associated Press contributed to this report about the acquisition of Sam Howell by the Philadelphia Eagles.

This report does not mention any injuries to Philadelphia Eagles players on the offense other than Mailata and Dickerson. The Eagles have not released any official statements regarding the trades, but it is clear that they are making moves to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.

The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired offensive tackle Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars in a trade. Johnson played for the Eagles from 2022 to 2024. The Eagles are also receiving a 2027 sixth-round pick as part of the Sam Howell trade deal.
