"PM Modi Inaugurates Showcase of VESIT's Domestically Produced Chip at Semicon India 2025"
Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology (VESIT) has made history as the first private engineering institute from Maharashtra to be featured in the prestigious Category-I of the Chips to Startup (C2S) program. This landmark achievement marks a significant step forward in India's Semiconductor Mission.
The institute's success in developing a Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) chip solidifies its position as a key contributor to India's semiconductor sector. The PGA chip, developed under the C2S Programme, is a testament to VESIT's role in driving indigenous semiconductor innovation in the country.
The PGA chip, fabricated at SCL, Mohali, on a 180 nm CMOS technology node, is useful for a wide range of signal processing and computer-based systems. It finds application in high-tech instrumentations, medical equipments, and defense applications, making it a valuable asset in India's technological future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, recently unveiled 'Made in India' semiconductor chips at Semicon India 2025 in New Delhi. The first 25 Made In India Semiconductor Chips include VESIT's indigenously designed PGA IC chip.
The C2S Programme, a national initiative aimed at fostering indigenous semiconductor development in India, is empowering academic institutions like VESIT to contribute to this mission. VESIT's commitment to fostering innovation and hands-on research is evident in its participation in the C2S program.
Panache Digilife, an industry partner, has shown interest in using VESIT's PGA chip to manufacture advanced electronic instruments. However, as of now, there are no specific industry partners listed that collaborate with VESIT using its developed chips for advanced electronics manufacturing.
Shri. B. L. Boolani, Managing Trustee of VESIT, expressed pride in the institution's recognition in the national semiconductor initiative. He highlighted that this achievement demonstrates VESIT's sustained dedication to technological self-reliance and its role in shaping the next generation of engineers and innovators, contributing to the 'Make in India' mission.
The ongoing projects at VESIT further solidify its place as a significant player in India's indigenous semiconductor development. With two more chips currently under development, VESIT continues to fuel the vision of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' through its work in the semiconductor sector. This continued work by VESIT demonstrates its commitment to strengthening the nation's position on the global technology map through Industry-Academia collaboration.
