Poker legend Daniel Negreanu joins forces with financial prediction platform Kalshi as a strategic partner
Kalshi Partners with Daniel Negreanu to Expand into Prediction Markets
In an exciting development, prediction market operator Kalshi has announced a partnership with professional poker player Daniel Negreanu. This alliance marks a significant expansion for Kalshi, as it self-certifies a range of new event contracts, adding diversity to its prediction markets.
Negreanu, a well-known figure in the world of professional poker, will be integrating Kalshi into his content, starting with his streaming sessions during the final stage of the GGPoker WSOP Online Series. While Kalshi does not currently offer poker-specific markets, Negreanu's input could potentially see the platform evolve in this direction in the future, although no official confirmation has been made.
Kalshi operates legally in all 50 US states and has reported over a million users with over $2bn in sports trades executed. The partnership arrives at a time when alternative wagering platforms are gaining traction in the US.
Unlike standard sports betting operators, prediction markets offer participants the ability to take positions on real-world events, from economic indicators to cultural milestones. The new listings cover areas spanning politics, culture, and finance, with markets such as who could appear on Eurovision, football player statistics, weather-related events, and more.
With Negreanu's endorsement, Kalshi is positioning itself to capitalize on the crossover between poker enthusiasts and prediction market traders. The collaboration between Negreanu and Kalshi allows for Kalshi to showcase its platform and markets to Negreanu's global following.
Anyone who signs up to Kalshi using the code "DNEGS" will be entered into a draw for a promotional giveaway tied to the upcoming WSOP Paradise festival. One lucky follower could win a $30,000 package, including a $26,000 entry into the Super Main Event and nine nights at the Atlantis Royal.
Depositing $100 on Kalshi with the code "DNEGS" will also earn a $40 bonus, subject to terms and conditions. Kalshi aims to educate and attract users who may not have previously engaged with prediction trading by leveraging Negreanu's global following.
Negreanu, who has been using Kalshi privately for some time, emphasised the broad appeal of the platform, noting that poker players often enjoy side bets and proposition wagers on unusual outcomes, something prediction markets are designed to facilitate. The partnership between Negreanu and Kalshi combines the traditional world of poker tournaments with the fast-growing sector of regulated prediction markets.
