Poker Legend Scotty Nguyen Returns to Action at Nordic and Baltic Championship Open

Scotty Nguyen, the 1998 World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion, is making a comeback after surgery and is set to appear at the Nordic and Baltic Championship Open in Tallinn, Estonia. With career earnings of $12.7 million, Nguyen is a poker legend who has recently revealed his toughest opponents and shared his iconic line from the 1998 WSOP Main Event.

Nguyen missed the first half of the 2023 WSOP due to surgery for slipping rib syndrome, which required operations on both hips. He has since recovered and has been enjoying his time with family in Vietnam since the WSOP. Nguyen has played a light schedule since the surgery, cashing a few times in 2023 and once at both the 2024 and 2025 WSOP. His first cash in poker dates back to 1991.

In a recent interview, Nguyen revealed his three toughest poker opponents, despite not having officially shared this information earlier. His iconic line from the 1998 WSOP Main Event final hand, 'You call, it's gonna be all over, baby!', is widely recognized and often quoted by fans. Nguyen credits his Russian partner Alsou with helping him recover and maintain an active lifestyle.

Scotty Nguyen, with his impressive career earnings and legendary status, is set to grace the Nordic and Baltic Championship Open in Tallinn, Estonia, from Oct. 17-22. After recovering from surgery and playing a light schedule, fans are eager to see Nguyen back in action.
