Polestar 3 surpasses SUV range record, traveling an astounding 935 kilometers on a single charge, exceeding its own anticipated capacity by a significant 230 kilometers.

The Polestar 3 has made a significant mark in the electric vehicle (EV) industry by setting a new Guinness World Record for the distance travelled on a single charge by an SUV. The record-breaking drive covered an impressive 935.44km on British roads in a single day.

A team, including Guido Reinking, took turns behind the wheel, driving for three-hour stretches each. The journey, which included single-track lanes, highways, and country roads, was completed without any modifications to the vehicle.

The Polestar 3 was equipped with standard 20-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres. Despite driving at speeds little more than 40km/h, the vehicle achieved its official range with a 20 per cent charge remaining at the end of the record drive.

This record-setting drive by the Polestar 3 not only surpassed its claimed WLTP range of 706km but also beat the existing record set by a Ford Mustang Mach-E in 2024. The Chevrolet Silverado, with a massive 205kWh battery, drove at lower speeds compared to the Polestar 3 and the world record-setting Lucid Air.

The Polestar 3's record-setting drive included video footage, odometer readings, GPS data, and the onboard battery charge level indicators, ensuring transparency and veracity. The drive consumed an average of 12.1kWh/100km in mixed weather conditions, demonstrating the vehicle's efficiency.

The record drive took 22 hours and 57 minutes, setting a new benchmark for electric SUV performance. Michael Lohscheller, the CEO of Polestar, commented on the drive, stating that the Polestar 3 setting a world record is another proof point that it is setting new standards.

Interestingly, the new record was set by the Polestar 3, just days after a lightly modified Chevrolet Silverado set an unofficial record in the States. This achievement further solidifies the Polestar 3's position as a leader in electric performance. The Polestar 3's record-setting drive is another proof point that it is setting new standards in electric performance.
