Police have apprehended the assailants responsible for a knife assault
In a shocking turn of events, a man was repeatedly stabbed at Berlin Hauptbahnhof on Thursday morning. The victim, a 42-year-old man, suffered stab wounds to his upper body and legs.
The attacker was identified as a 47-year-old man, who is stateless and suspected of illegal residence in the federal territory. The incident occurred around 8:45 AM.
The attacker was initially apprehended by an off-duty Federal Police officer at gunpoint. Later, the Berlin Police and Federal Police took him into police custody.
The arrested individual administered first aid to the victim before emergency services arrived. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital for surgery. The hospital reports no risk to the victim's life.
The judicial officer holding the stateless man accused of the stabbing is not specified in the available information. A judge ordered his detention on Friday.
A drug test on the attacker came back positive for amphetamines and cocaine. The Federal Police have initiated investigations against the suspect for dangerous bodily harm and illegal residence.
