The South Hesse Highway Police Station has officially opened its doors, marking a significant development in the region's security architecture. The inauguration, which took place in Hanau on August 28, 2025, was attended by key figures including Interior Minister Roman Poseck, Police Commissioner Timo Rosenberger, and Police President Daniel Muth.

As the new acting head of the South Hesse Highway Police Station, Commissioner Rosenberger will oversee a team responsible for ensuring safety on approximately 330 kilometers of highways and motorway-like federal roads. This includes a section of the A 3, one of Germany's most important traffic axes, and the important east-west connection A 66 between Schlüchtern and Frankfurt.

The station's new location is expected to improve both the traffic connection and the operational effectiveness of the highway police. Police President Daniel Muth expressed his satisfaction with the new facilities, stating that the station is well-positioned to ensure security on the highways and motorways in its area of responsibility.

In addition to the Highway Police Station, the Hanau Police Station, Langenselbold Police Station, and new community police stations have been inaugurated, creating new structures. Local community police officers, representing a community-oriented police force, have been introduced. These officers serve as permanent points of contact for citizens and are now permanently stationed at the police stations in Bad Orb, Schlüchtern, Hanau, and additional two in Hanau, which were established at the beginning of the month.

Targeted adjustments and additional personnel from the Hessian state government have resulted in an additional patrol car on duty around the clock at the Gelnhausen Police Station and the Schlüchtern Police Station. This move is part of a broader effort to provide Hanau and the Main-Kinzig district with a more modern, community-oriented, and efficient police force.

The new security architecture, which coincides with the upcoming secession of the city of Hanau from January 1, 2026, was announced by Police President Daniel Muth, who highlighted that it provides the region with a more modern, community-oriented, and efficient police force.
