Police in Iloilo City apprehend twin high-value targets and confiscate PHP 1,050,000 worth of shabu.
In a significant move to combat illegal drugs, the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) carried out two separate buy-bust operations on August 29, 2025. These operations, conducted by ICPS 5 in Barangay Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao District, and ICPS 9 in Barangay MH Del Pilar, Jaro District, resulted in the arrest of two high-value individuals (HVIs) - Alias Boy and Alias Gory.
During the first operation, Alias Boy, a resident of Barangay Lebo-o, Dingle, Iloilo, was apprehended. Recovered from him were four plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 55 grams, with an estimated worth of P374,000.
In the second operation, Alias Gory, a resident of Jaro, Iloilo, was arrested. Seven plastic sachets of shabu weighing 100 grams were found on him, with an estimated worth of P680,000.
Both suspects are currently detained for violating Section 5 (Sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the Iloilo City Police Office and its operating units for the back-to-back drug operations. Ligan stated that the successful operations reflect the commitment to pursue high-value drug targets who endanger communities.
Ligan reaffirmed PRO 6's commitment to combating illegal drugs as a measure to safeguard the populace and enforce legal statutes. The head of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, who praised the Iloilo City Police Office for its achievements, was not identified in the search results.
