Police officially opened their motorway station, located within the police headquarters, in the region of South Hessen.

The official opening of the Police Autobahn Station Southeast Hesse in Hanau took place on August 28, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the security of the region. The event was attended by Roman Poseck, the Hessian Minister of the Interior, Police President Daniel Muth, and Claus Kaminsky, the Mayor of Hanau, among others.

The document titled "20250828_pm280_OpeningOfPoliceAutobahnStationOfPoliceRegionalHeadquartersSoutheastHesse_StM.pdf" provides a detailed account of the day's proceedings. The station, which is 278 kB in size, serves as a new structure alongside the Police Stations Hanau, Langenselbold, and the existing Police Autobahn Station Southeast Hesse.

The new location of the Police Autobahn Station Southeast Hesse improves both the traffic connection and the operational effectiveness of the Autobahn Police. The station is responsible for approximately 330 kilometers of highways and expressways in the region of the Police Regional Headquarters, and it handles a wide range of tasks annually. These include recording around 2,000 accidents, traffic monitoring and prevention, controlling commercial goods and passenger traffic, and searching for criminal offenders.

In addition to the new Autobahn Police Station, two additional community police officers have been established in Hanau. These officers, representing a community-oriented police force, serve as permanent points of contact for citizens. A community police officer is also permanently stationed at the police stations in Bad Orb and SchlΓΌchtern.

The restructuring of the security architecture of the Police Regional Headquarters Southeast Hesse, of which the opening of the Police Autobahn Station Southeast Hesse is a part, coincides with the upcoming secession of the city of Hanau on January 1, 2026. The new location and facilities of the Highway Police Station are optimally positioned to ensure security on the highways and motorways in its area of responsibility.

Police Commissioner Timo Rosenberger has been introduced as the new acting head of the South Hesse Highway Police Station, succeeding Senior Police Commissioner Christian Kreß. The 48-year-old Rosenberger has previously served many years in patrol duty and in various functions, most recently as deputy head of the highway police.

The opening of the Police Autobahn Station Southeast Hesse today symbolically marks the completion of the implementation measures of the new security concept. Police President Daniel Muth concluded that the concept of the new security structure is now fully implemented, with Hanau and the Main-Kinzig district benefiting significantly from these improvements. The event was a testament to the commitment of the authorities to ensuring the safety and security of the region.
