New Academic Year Begins for FOS Program in Hagen

The Police Upper Secondary School in Bochum and the University of Applied Sciences South Westphalia in Hagen have welcomed a new cohort of students as the academic year commenced on August 25, 2025. This year marks the fourth year of the innovative "FOS" program, which provides a unique path into the police force for young individuals.

A total of 19 female and 39 male students, aged between 14 and 30, have been welcomed into the FOS program. These students are part of the 551 young people who have secured a place in one of the 19 vocational schools participating in the FOS program.

The Hagen Police, who oversee the training of FOS students, hosted a welcoming event for the new cohort. The Police Department of Hagen holds the training leadership and cooperates with vocational schools in Bochum and other police authorities in the region. This collaboration aims to prepare students for a successful career in the NRW police force.

The cross-departmental collaboration provides students with academic and practical content within the daily operations of the cooperating departments. Upon graduation from the FOS program, students will have full university entrance qualification and a guarantee to begin their studies at the University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration NRW.

As of June 2025, 3645 individuals have applied for the FOS class of 2025. The Hagen Police wish the FOS students success as they begin their journey towards joining team 110.
