Police took a driver into custody
In a recent incident, the Circles Police Authority Viersen is investigating a suspicious vehicle that was reported driving at high speed over field paths in Alst. The chase involving the vehicle occurred on the B509.
The driver initially fled from the police in Breyell, leading to a pursuit that ended at around 11 PM on Tuesday evening. However, visual contact with the fleeing vehicle was eventually lost.
The police found the vehicle abandoned in Schaag on the Speck road. The license plate of the fleeing vehicle is known by the authorities, but the driver has not been publicly identified.
The offense being investigated is under §315d of the Criminal Code, which pertains to prohibited motor vehicle races. This offense is not limited to instances where one driver wants to be faster than another, but also includes situations where a driver moves at an inappropriate speed, disregarding traffic rules and showing no regard for others in an attempt to reach the highest possible speed.
