Political landscape: Securing victory requires bold assurance
In recent times, those advocating for necessary changes, such as combating climate change or adapting to societal realities, have been increasingly labelled as radicals. This trend is not exclusive to the extreme right or the left, but reaches far into the Union parties, FDP, and SPD of Chancellor Scholz.
One party that stands firm in its commitment to change is the Greens. Known for their clear stance in foreign policy and advocacy for change in agriculture, food, and species protection, the Greens also champion an open and diverse society. However, they are not without criticism. Some view the Greens as a target for criticism, and democratic competitors have recognized that fears can be used against them.
A significant portion of people distrust parties and governments to solve major challenges in their favour. This distrust is reflected in the rising popularity of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a party widely regarded as a radical one in Germany. The AfD, with its support from a segment of the population favouring a return to past policies, insufficiently addresses necessary future-oriented changes. This is evident in its associations with the right-wing extremist spectrum and controversy over cooperation with established conservative parties like the CDU.
At the European level, radicalism is less explicitly attributed to mainstream parties besides fringe groups, but the AfD, as part of the European right-wing populist scene, is among those seen as opposing comprehensive future-proof reforms.
The Greens, who consistently hold on to their claim to actively and responsibly shape the present and future, are now accused of overburdening people, social cohesion, and the economy, and even laying the foundation for the rise of extreme views. It would be a mistake to accept this label. Approaching people courageously, with an outstretched hand, is crucial to regain trust, strengthen alliances for shaping change, and convey future confidence.
Unfortunately, democratic parties have not found sufficient answers to future fears and uncertainty. Many people in Germany and Europe are afraid of becoming losers in upcoming economic, geopolitical, and societal transformations. The Greens, with their unwavering commitment to preserving prosperity, freedom, and security for the future, offer a beacon of hope in these uncertain times.
In conclusion, the Greens should continue to implement reforms to make the country future-proof, and approach the challenges ahead with courage and determination. Only by working together can we navigate the changes needed to ensure a prosperous and secure future for all.
