In the city of Erfurt, the Thuringian state association of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has expelled former MP Klaus Stober from the party. The decision was made by the state arbitration court of the AfD following Stober's critical remarks during the state election campaign last year.

Torben Braga, the spokesman for the AfD state association in Thuringia, confirmed Stober's current status as a party member. According to Braga, the party leadership at the time accused Stober of election campaign sabotage due to his criticism of Bjoern Hoecke, the then-top candidate of the AfD and current party chairman, Stephan Brandner.

Stober publicly criticized Hoecke, accusing him of being ego-centric during the state election campaign. These critical remarks led to the initiation of Stober's expulsion by the state board of the AfD.

The expulsion of Stober was previously reported by the "World" news outlet. However, Stober has appealed the February decision of expulsion, and for now, he remains listed as a party member.

The case regarding Stober's expulsion is currently being handled by the federal arbitration court. The decision made by the state arbitration court of the AfD is being challenged, and a final resolution is yet to be reached.

This is not the first time the AfD has faced internal conflicts. The party has been embroiled in numerous disputes and expulsions in recent years, often due to ideological differences and public criticisms.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the federal arbitration court will rule on Stober's expulsion and whether he will continue to be a part of the AfD.
