Popular destinations preferred by Dresden residents
The Environmental Office of Dresden has announced the initiation of the DresdenNATUR project, with plans to be finalised for six key areas by the end of 2027. The focus of this project is to maintain and further develop these areas in harmony with nature conservation.
The six areas of interest include the Elbe floodplains, the Heller, the Schönfelder Hochland, the Marsdorf small hill landscape, the loess plateaus west of Briesnitz and Gorbitz, and the southern valleys and black earth areas in Leubnitz-Neuostra and Lockwitz. These undeveloped, unwooded areas within the city are of particular importance for both nature and Dresden residents who value recreational activities in these natural spaces.
René Herold, head of the Environmental Office, is overseeing the project. A socio-economic study will be conducted as part of the project to ensure the continued coexistence of nature and recreation. The study's focus is on leisure and tourism, and their balance with nature.
To gather insights from the community, an online survey is available on dresden.de. Residents are encouraged to share their favourite recreational spots and suggestions for improvements within these focus areas. The survey aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the city's recreational needs and preferences, which will inform the project's development.
The DresdenNATUR project team can be contacted for questions and suggestions via email at [email protected]. The Environmental Office of Dresden looks forward to working with the community to create a more enjoyable and sustainable recreational environment for all.
