In a series of speeding incidents on the A44 motorway, a 34-year-old woman from Staufenberg was measured driving 128 km/h on the Dortmund-bound carriageway on July 22, 2025. This incident occurred amidst the ongoing renovation of the A44, which has reduced the speed limit to 60 km/h in this direction.
The Bielefeld Police Headquarters are currently carrying out traffic monitoring on the A44 between Buฬren and Geseke junctions. The renovation involves a four-lane construction, resulting in a lane reduction, and traffic in the direction of Kassel is being rerouted to the Dortmund-bound carriageway.
The woman's repeated violation of the no-overtaking rule, which applies to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and all vehicles with trailers in both directions on the A44, has raised concerns. If found intentional, she faces a fine of 1200 euros, a two-month driving ban, and two points on her driving record.
Another incident occurred on July 29, 2025, at 09:48, when a 60-year-old Porsche Cayenne driver from Neutraubling (Bavaria) was measured driving 106 km/h on the same stretch of the A44.
