Powerful Australia is ready to take on the responsibility of defending the Women's World Cup.

Australia's women's cricket team, fresh from their victories in the T20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup, and the Commonwealth Games title since 2018, are preparing to defend their One Day International (ODI) World Cup title in India.

The squad, led by Alyssa Healy, will open their defense against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore. The 15-strong team includes experienced players such as Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Annabel Sutherland, Tahlia McGrath, and Ashleigh Gardner, who have been instrumental in Australia's recent successes.

Sophie Molineux, who has returned from knee surgery, will also be part of the team for the World Cup. She will be joined by newcomers Sophie Molineux, Phoebe Litchfield, Leg-spinner Wareham, quick Kim Garth, and batter Georgia Voll, who will make their World Cup debuts.

Darcie Brown and Georgia Wareham have also recovered from recent injuries and will play in the World Cup. The team's experience from several sub-continent tours and the Women's Premier League will help them tackle the unique demands of Indian conditions.

The extended nature of the ODI World Cup can be a challenge, but the team believes they have the depth and versatility to meet those demands. Shawn Flegler, the national selector, expressed confidence in the team's readiness for the challenges of the World Cup in India.

Before the World Cup, the team will play three warm-up one-dayers against India in New Chandigarh and New Delhi. The 13th edition of the ODI World Cup begins on September 30 in India and Sri Lanka.

In addition to the current World Cup, the Australian women's cricket squad has also announced their team for the 2025 World Cup, where they are participating in a 50-over World Cup for the first time. The squad includes players such as Charli Knott, Alyssa Healy, and Sophie Molineux.

The team's impressive run of form and the return of key players make them strong favourites to defend their ODI World Cup title in India. Fans and pundits alike will be eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament to see if Australia can continue their dominance in women's cricket.
