In the aftermath of a recent earthquake in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, the organisation "Kinder brauchen Frieden e.V." has swiftly mobilised focused relief efforts to support the affected areas. The organisation, dedicated to providing aid, has been distributing urgently needed goods and support to families in the region.

Their aid activities include the provision of tents, blankets, winter clothes, cooking oil, and food, with a special focus on displaced families in Jalalabad province. This timely assistance is crucial as the region braces for the harsh winter months.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.6 according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), occurred near Jalalabad, Afghanistan, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam reported a slightly higher magnitude of 6.3 for the same earthquake.

Fortunately, as of now, no reports of casualties or significant damage have been received. However, the earthquake was felt in neighboring countries, including India and Pakistan, indicating the widespread impact of the seismic activity.

The situation remains fluid, and it is essential to continue monitoring the situation closely. The people of Jalalabad and the surrounding areas will need ongoing support as they navigate the challenges posed by this natural disaster.
