Prepared Contenders Brace for Challenging 2025 Chepsaita Competition

The Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run, a renowned event in the world of athletics, is scheduled to take place on December 6 this year. The third edition of the World Athletics gold level cross country run will see athletes from various countries compete on the hills of Chepsaita in Uasin Gishu.

The course for this year's event has been designed with challenges and obstacles, promising a thrilling race. According to the event's technical official, Ibrahim Hussein, the course is natural, boasting a spectacular view and being one of the best in the world. The course has been slightly adjusted for a unique experience, ensuring an exciting competition for all participants.

The race will be chaired by Barnaba Korir, who is also the National Olympic Committee-Kenya (NOC-K) vice president. Notably, the masters categories will not be included in this year's programme.

The previous edition of the race was won by Samwel Chebolei Masai and Loice Chekwemoi of Uganda. The current race patron, Farouk Kibet, has announced that Sh20 million of the race's proceeds will be allocated for academic scholarships for children from vulnerable families in Turbo.

The event's theme remains "Running for Education," reflecting the organisers' commitment to supporting education in the region. Athletes from countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Brunei, Burundi, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, South Africa, and Somalia, among others, are expected to participate.

Kibet emphasises the focus on nurturing young talents for global competition. The establishment of a holiday training camp as a result of the race underscores this commitment. The organisers are dedicated to providing a platform for upcoming athletes to showcase their talents and compete against the best in the world.
