President Pays a Visit to Stadler's Facility in Kazakhstan
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently visited railway industry workers, where he was updated on the ongoing modernization efforts in the country's railway system. This transformation aims to improve service quality and boost regional connectivity.
The modernization includes the integration of satellite internet for trains, a move that will bring Kazakhstan's railways into the digital age. Trains are now connected to satellite internet, ensuring seamless communication and data transfer during journeys.
International partners are collaborating to improve the passenger transport system and enhance regional connectivity. Countries such as Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, France, and Switzerland, known for their complex infrastructure projects and fleet renewals within Europe, are involved in this collaboration. Specific companies like the Polish infrastructure operator PKP PLK, the Polish-Spanish construction company Budimex, and the Turkish firm Gülermak are contributing to various modernization and expansion projects across Europe.
During his visit, the President was presented with the first passenger carriage produced at Stadler Kazakhstan, a facility focused on producing sleeping, seated, and specialized carriages, including carriages for passengers with reduced mobility. By 2025, 51 carriages are planned to be produced at Stadler Kazakhstan, and by 2030, 557 new carriages will be put into operation.
The production at Stadler Kazakhstan also includes the localization of various Kazakhstani enterprises, ensuring a local touch to the modernization drive.
To strengthen security, video recorders, mobile terminals, and 4000 cameras with artificial intelligence technologies are used. This comprehensive security system will ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
The new carriages, once fully operational, will allow for a full renewal of the national carrier's carriage fleet. The new carriages boast modern engineering solutions for increased passenger comfort and safety, with a lifespan of 40 years, adapted for operation in harsh climatic conditions.
A unified digital platform for passengers has been developed by domestic IT companies, integrating various functions from ticket purchase to tourist services. This digital platform streamlines various passenger-related functions, making travel more convenient and efficient.
Across the country, 125 railway stations are being reconstructed as part of this modernization drive. This will not only improve the aesthetic appeal of the stations but also ensure they are equipped with modern facilities to enhance the overall travel experience.
The modernization of Kazakhstan's railway system is a significant step towards a more connected, efficient, and comfortable transportation network for the country's citizens and visitors alike.
