In a series of events that caused concern for motorists on the A7 near Langenau on 06.08.2025, a 70-year-old man driving a Hyundai i20 was stopped by the police after driving the wrong way on the motorway.
According to the Police Headquarters Ulm, the incident was first reported around 11:40 PM. The man initially entered the motorway from the "St. Jakob" rest area, driving in the wrong direction. He continued on the two-lane carriageway on the left overtaking lane, heading towards Langenau.
The police were able to intervene before an accident occurred, managing to stop the wrong-way driver just before the Ulm/Elchingen motorway junction. The man was then arrested and presented to the competent judge at Ulm District Court the next day, 07.08.2025.
Investigations into the background of the incident are ongoing, with the Public Prosecutor's Office in Ulm ordering the seizure of the vehicle and the driver's license. A warrant for arrest was issued against the suspect on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.
