In the Doubs courthouse, a significant trial is underway. Frédéric Péchier, a former anesthesiologist, stands accused of poisoning patients during his tenure at two private clinics in Besançon. The trial, which opened on Monday, September 8, is expected to last for three and a half months.

At the heart of the case is Sandra Simard, a victim who underwent a back operation requiring general anesthesia in 2017. Her rehydration solution was allegedly poisoned with potassium at 100 times the normal dose. Sandra, who has been waiting for this trial for years, is present in the courtroom during the proceedings.

PĂ©chier, who is 53 years old, has reaffirmed his innocence before the trial debates on RTL. He expressed apprehension about the lengthy proceedings but believes he has strong arguments. However, as of the report, no proof of poisoning has been presented.

Stéphane Giuranna, the lawyer representing the civil parties, stated that Péchier is indeed the poisoner. Giuranna expressed being ready, calm, combative, and determined for the trial.

Péchier is accused of 30 poisonings, including 12 fatal ones, in the two private clinics in Besançon. There is no information available about Péchier's judicial past prior to his 2023 indictment related to these allegations.
