Fuel Prices to Rise Next Week: Gasoline and Diesel to Increase by 1.5 and 2 Cents Per Liter

Starting from next week, motorists in many regions will be faced with a slight increase in the price of fuels. The new average price of gasoline will be €1.71 per liter, a rise of 1.5 cents, while diesel will see a more significant increase of 2 cents per liter, reaching €1.57.

These price changes, confirmed by industry sources and SIC, are not related to any specific event or policy but primarily due to higher CO2 taxation from the government. The CO2 price rose from 45 to 55 euros per ton effective January 1, 2025, causing a roughly 3-cent per liter increase in fuel costs.

The increase in fuel prices will vary depending on the region and filling station for gasoline, but for diesel, the impact will be uniform across all consumers who use the fuel.

It is important to note that the increase in fuel prices will not affect the prices of other goods or services. While this may provide some relief to consumers, the higher fuel costs could potentially impact businesses that rely heavily on transportation.

From Monday, the price of diesel will increase, and the price of gasoline will follow suit shortly after. Motorists are advised to plan their fuel purchases accordingly to minimise any inconvenience caused by these price changes.
