Private jet takeoff initiated at Fort Lauderdale as ERS Stores Landmark Real Estate; Signifying Embraer's 2,000th private aircraft milestone.
In the world of high-net-worth travelers, the convenience and speed of FBOs (Fixed Base Operators) have become a popular choice for bypassing the typical hassles of commercial airports. These facilities cater to general aviation, offering services like fueling, maintenance, and crew support.
With over 3,000 to 3,400 FBOs across the U.S. alone, the market is ripe for development. One such company capitalizing on this growth is Flyjets Exchange, a tech-driven, eco-conscious peer-to-peer aviation marketplace. Flyjets allows travelers to resell charter seats, jet-card hours, and empty legs, helping to cut costs and maximize aircraft utilization. The company is also introducing real-time bidding and time-based auctions, making private flying more affordable and efficient.
Meanwhile, in the realm of luxury retail, Executive Retail Shops (ERS) is making waves. Currently, the only known travel retail company operating within private airports, ERS has recently opened two new store locations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Florida. These new stores bring the retailer up to 21 shopping locations across the U.S., solidifying its position as a major player for luxury retail in private aviation.
The flagship store, spanning 693 square feet, showcases top-end spirits, fragrances, and jewelry from brands like Louis XIII Cognac, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Versace, Initio Parfums Prives, Michael Malul London, and Parfums de Marly. A smaller 325-square-foot boutique shop dedicated to high-end fragrances will open this winter 2025.
ERS is part of Duty Free Holdings LLC, which also runs regular airport shops and duty-free border shopping. The new locations are strategically situated at Sheltair Aviation FBO and are less than an hour's drive from Mar-a-Lago Club and a 20-minute ride to Aventura Mall, tapping into the untapped potential in high-traffic leisure destinations.
The growth in the private aviation market is not limited to the U.S. Projections show that from 2024 to 2025, ERS is expected to experience 400% year-over-year sales growth, allowing the company to scale quickly in the developing private jet market. Beyond domestic expansion, there is potential in high-traffic leisure destinations such as the Caribbean, including markets like St. Thomas.
The growth in the private jet market is also reflected in the sales of Embraer, a leading manufacturer of executive jets. In 2024, nearly one in every three small and midsize cabin jets delivered was an Embraer Phenom or Praetor, demonstrating the increasing demand for private travel solutions.
Jessica Fisher, founder and CEO of Flyjets, is at the forefront of this revolution. With her innovative approach to private aviation, she is making travel more accessible and sustainable for all. The future of private aviation and luxury retail seems to be taking off, and Fort Lauderdale is at the heart of it all.
