Private space company Lightyear secures $23 million in Series B funding, surpasses $1 billion in customer assets, and debuts AI-driven market intelligence platform.

In a significant move, Lightyear, a leading European retail investing company, has secured a $23 million Series B funding round. This round was led by NordicNinja, with Superangel and Specialist VC also participating. Notable individual investors include Markus Villig of Bolt and Lars Trunin of Wise.

This funding round marks a pivotal moment for Lightyear, as it continues to transform Europe's investment landscape by integrating AI into its accessible and scalable platform. The funds will be used to expand Lightyear's operations across Denmark, Sweden, and Bulgaria, further expanding its coverage across the continent.

Lightyear's expansion cements its position as a key player in the European investment market. Currently, the company operates across 25 markets in 10 languages, making it the fastest expanding investment company in Europe.

Existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Metaplanet, Skaala (by Taavet Hinrikus and Sten Tamkivi), Kaarel Kotkas, Hardi Meybaum, and Ott Kaukver have also increased their stakes in the company.

One of the key features that Lightyear is introducing with this funding is a suite of AI-powered tools. These tools aim to simplify and enhance the investment experience for users. "Why Did It Move?" provides a summary of what caused a spike or dip on an instrument chart, helping users to understand market movements better. "Bulls Say, Bears Say" analyzes reliable sources and presents arguments for and against an investment, aiding users in making informed decisions. "Lightning Updates" provides bite-sized summaries related to the instruments you hold or watch, as well as updates on macroeconomic trends and market sentiment.

Marko Oolo, Partner at Superangel, emphasized the importance of making investing accessible to everyone. Rainer Sternfeld, Partner at NordicNinja, expressed excitement about leading Lightyear's Series B, while Markus Villig, CEO of Bolt, has expressed excitement about backing Lightyear in disrupting the European investment market.

Reaching $1 billion in customer assets is a significant milestone for Lightyear, indicating strong trust from investors and the need for a customer-friendly investment platform. With its expansion and the introduction of AI-powered tools, Lightyear is poised to continue its growth and impact on the European investment market.
