In the picturesque town of Briesen (Mark), Vodafone GmbH has recently launched a new mobile station, marking a significant step in improving mobile broadband coverage and strengthening the 5G network. This development is part of the larger infrastructure project, "Mobile network for the Oder-Spree district."

The new mobile station, operating on the 5G network, is designed to meet the growing demand from the population for social media usage, HD video streaming, live sports and cultural events, and news updates. It also serves a crucial role in emergency situations, enabling emergency calls and warnings of disasters.

Vodafone's Chief Technology Officer, Tanja Richter, emphasised the importance of mobile networks for quality of life, local economy, and jobs. She stated that the company is meeting the strong demand from the population by closing dead zones and expanding mobile data highways.

The new station is equipped with the latest variants of the emergency call technology AML, ensuring that the location of the caller is automatically transmitted to the emergency control center during a call. This feature is instrumental in expediting emergency response times.

In addition to the new station, Vodafone plans to implement three more mobile construction projects in the district by mid-2026. These projects aim to close dead zones, strengthen the existing network, and further expand the 5G network.

Vodafone Germany, one of the leading communication conglomerates in Germany, already covers 100% of its electricity needs with renewable energy, and aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and net-zero emissions by 2040. The company currently operates 103 mobile stations in the district, with 80 of them equipped with 5G technology.

Three existing locations will have additional antennas for LTE and 5G installed, benefiting residents of the municipality of Brieskow-Finkenheerd. The new antennas also support the new technology Cell Broadcast, which allows for the surrounding population to be warned via smartphone about danger situations like large fires, gas explosions, and floods.

With over 30 million mobile, over 10 million broadband, and around 12 million TV customers, Vodafone Germany generates an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros with around 15,000 employees. The company's machine network (Narrowband IoT) covers over 97% of German territory for industry and business.

However, further details regarding the senior executives leading the "Mobile network for the Oder-Spree district" project or Vodafone's additional construction projects planned until mid-2026 could not be found in the available search results.
