Brandon Banks Retires, Leaves Legacy with Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Brandon Banks, a six-time All-East Division selection and four-time All-CFL selection, has announced his retirement from professional football. The news was shared on CHCH Sportsline.

Banks spent eight seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, making a significant impact as a receiver and return specialist. He is the all-time franchise leader in punt return yards (3,049), kickoff return yards (3,773), missed field goal return yards (779), and has the most missed field goal return touchdowns in Tiger-Cats history (five).

Banks' contributions to the team were not limited to the field. He helped the Tiger-Cats win the Grey Cup in 2022, and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 2019 and the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2015.

Upon retiring, Banks moved to Hamilton, Canada, and started a business training young athletes and hosting football camps. He is actively involved in giving back to the community, and has plans to do some volunteer coaching at the high school level this fall.

Banks' love for Hamilton is evident. In a recent interview, he expressed his affection for the city, stating it as his home in Canada. The Tiger-Cats honored Banks in a regular-season game in 2023, recognising his exceptional career with the team.

The Tiger-Cats (6-4) are currently on a bye following a 29-9 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. As Banks hangs up his cleats, his legacy with the team will undoubtedly be remembered.

Banks ended his career with the Toronto Argonauts, where he helped the team win the Grey Cup in 2022. Despite this, his heart will always be with the Tiger-Cats, and the city of Hamilton.

Banks' retirement marks the end of an era for the CFL, but his impact on the sport and the community will live on.
