On the second Thursday of September each year, Germany conducts a nationwide Warning Day, a test of national warning capabilities. The responsible authority for this event is the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). This is a nationwide event involving all federal states, not limited to a specific state.

The next nationwide Warning Day is scheduled for spring 2026, with the previous test alarm having taken place on September 11, 2025. During this event, sirens will sound the "Civil Warning" signal around 11:00 AM. It is important to note that the "Civil Warning" is not a reason for panic, as it is just a functional test.

In addition to the "Civil Warning", the "Fire Alarm" signal may also be triggered during the nationwide Warning Day. This "Fire Alarm" hearing test is one of the components of the nationwide Warning Day test. The "Fire Alarm" is a part of the hearing test of the siren tones during the nationwide Warning Day. Like the nationwide Warning Day, the "Fire Alarm" hearing test is an annual event that occurs on the second Thursday of September.

The "Fire Alarm" hearing test is not a reason for panic, as it is just a part of the functional test. The involved authorities and emergency services will activate different warning means, such as HesseWARN, NINA, advertising panels, radio, and the warning SMS "Cell-Broadcast". The "Fire Alarm" hearing test is a component of the overall test that includes various warning means.

At 11:00 AM, the activation of various warning means is scheduled. The "All Clear" signal indicates the end of the test and will be heard from sirens around 11:45 AM. It is important to remember that the "All Clear" signal does not mean an emergency has occurred; it simply signifies the end of the test.
