The Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority (THEA) has partnered with Neology, a global transportation technology company, in a significant project to modernize its Operational Back Office System.

Neology has been awarded an eight-year contract, with potential extensions, to deliver, operate, and maintain the system. The contract includes responsibilities to help THEA efficiently collect tolls on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway.

Greg Slater, the executive director of THEA, stated that the partnership will provide more insight into operations, enabling the organization to better manage assets and offer improved customer service.

Neology's neoBOSS Back Office System will be utilized to enhance THEA's financial reporting and reconciliation processes. The cloud-based platform developed by Neology will interface with THEA's legacy roadside system, their new roadside system, and third-party collections.

The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, a 17-mile all-electronic, limited access, arterial toll road, links Pinellas County, West Hillsborough County, Downtown Tampa, Brandon, Southern Hillsborough County, and beyond. The upper deck of the expressway is dedicated to express travel.

Neology, with its experience in the development and maintenance of back office systems for public transport operators, will manage THEA's back system to help the organization collect tolls more efficiently. The contract, worth approximately $20 million (£14.81m), includes two optional two-year extensions.

The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway is a vital artery in the region, and this partnership is expected to streamline operations and improve customer service for THEA. The platform developed by Neology is a solution designed to interface with THEA's SunPass Commercial Back Office, enhancing the efficiency of the entire system.

Neology's partnership with THEA is a testament to the company's commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and operations around the globe. The project underscores the importance of technology in modern transportation systems and the potential for such partnerships to drive progress and efficiency.
